At Coastal Counseling Center Destin, Rev. Charles B. Lenzy, PhD, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, uses a body- mind-spirit approach in his work with adults from all populations, but particularly those with complex trauma. Lenzy helps people determine where the conflict lies within them between their body, mind and spirit and then assists them with finding congruence and balance.

Lenzy uses a variety of modalities based on the original Ericksonian hypnotherapy combined with hypnotic regression (childhood and PLR) if requested, Parts Therapy and somatic guided imagery. In addition, TRUCETALK is Lenzy’s advanced neuromeditation hypnosis system to induce whole-brain processing of subliminal affirmations using the science of brainwave entrainment. This array of tools and techniques gently guides each client to their desired favorable outcome and brings about long-term changes toward personal change and development.

The first visit with Lenzy involves a thorough intake to set the tone for suc- cess through open and honest communication. He believes that proper un- derstanding leads to proper expectations and can plant the seeds for success. Together, Lenzy says, he and his client progress through the session “as fast as the client’s mind allows us to travel.”

Hypnotherapy practitioners must follow rules and regulations in their advertising and claims, for example, they cannot use the words “heal” or “cure,” but Lenzy personally believes that everyone has the power within to heal. He does ask clients, “What do you believe?” and does an intake to ensure that his clients do not have physiological causes to their issues that may need medical treatment.

Transformative experiences are expected during hypnotherapy sessions. It may be small or large, but it occurs shortly after the session begins. But Lenzy wants people to understand that hypnosis is not a panacea and that at no point is there a loss of control. Clients are conscious and communicative the entire time.
